Edge Leads Coastal Engineering Academy

Dr. Billy Edge was among 32 inaugural inductees to the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Academy of Coastal Ocean Port and Navigation Engineers.

Edge, professor of civil, construction and environmental engineering and program manager for coastal processes and engineering at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute, is president of the academy. Founded in 2009, the organization allows port and navigation engineers to earn a specialty credential professional licensure.

Edge’s research interests are in sustainable engineering practices in the coastal environment, coastal engineering, dredging technology, coastal zone management, hydraulic engineering and modeling of coastal processes.
