CALS Faculty Recognized

Faculty members in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences picked up slew of honors from the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) during a conference last month at Penn State University.

Three were named NACTA Teacher Fellows: Dr. Barry Croom and Dr. Mark Kistler, both faculty in agricultural and extension education; and Dr. Jan Spears in crop science.

Herman Sampson, lecturer in agricultural and resource economics, received a Teaching Award of Merit. Kevin Curry Jr., also in agricultural and extension education, received a NACTA Graduate Student Teaching Award.

The professional organization’s new president-elect is Dr. Jeannette Moore, Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor and undergraduate teaching coordinator in animal science. Moore will become NACTA president at next year’s annual conference in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

NACTA supports teaching and learning in agricultural, environmental, natural and life sciences.
