Moore’s International Work Featured

Dr. Susan Moore, whose outreach work in forestry has taken her around the world, is featured in the June/July Study Abroad spotlight.

Moore, an extension associate professor, directs the forestry and environmental outreach program in the College of Natural Resources. Her international experience includes work in Japan, forestry study tours to Ecuador and Guatemala, and ongoing research and extension work in southern Chile.

In addition to co-directing three Study Abroad trips to Chile, Moore completed a four-month research and extension project at University Austral there. She focused on developing an extension program in native forest management and supervised a doctoral student’s work in community-based conservation.

She offers continuing education for natural resource professionals, education for landowners and training for K-12 teachers. Her goals include building conservation organizations and promoting sustainable natural resource management and stewardship. She co-developed and taught a graduate course in global forest sustainability.
