Campus Forum Planned

Faculty, staff and students will have the opportunity to meet with Chancellor Randy Woodson when he convenes a forum on Monday, Sept. 13, to share his impressions of his first four months on the job, talk about NC State in the context of the U.S. News college rankings and set the tone for the new strategic planning effort.

The forum will be held at 3 p.m. in Thompson Theatre. Seating is limited; a video recording will be available following the forum.

Focus on Strategic Planning

Strategic planning began in July when a steering committee was formed, a planning retreat was held for members of the University Council and nine task forces were set up to address key issues.  Interim Provost Warwick Arden and Chair of the Faculty Margery Overton are co-chairs of the committee.

The task forces’ work will culminate in January when a draft plan will be available for review by the campus community. The plan will then go to the chancellor for review and submission to the Board of Trustees.

“The higher education landscape is changing,” the chancellor said.  “We need a ‘living’ strategic plan that anticipates the future and positions the university to stay on or ahead of the curve.”

He encouraged everyone to participate in building an actionable, measurable strategic plan.

Arden said the task forces represent a broad cross section of campus, and include about 150 members from a list of more than 400 nominees.

“While this is a fairly large planning group, everyone is invited and encouraged to help shape the new strategic plan,” he said.
