McCord Adds Global Health Duties

Dr. Marian McCord has accepted a half-time appointment as director of global health initiatives for the Office of International Affairs.

McCord, an associate professor of textile engineering chemistry and science, will work to increase research, education and engagement activities related to global health. She began her new duties Sept. 1.

McCord will continue to teach classes this fall and conduct research.  Two of her recent health research projects have international potential. She is working on a new type of mosquito netting to help stop the spread of malaria and sanitary pads made from natural, available materials for use in developing countries.
