Comstock Editor of Humanities Site

Dr. Gary Comstock, professor of philosophy, is editor-in-chief of the National Humanities Center’s On the Human Web site. The site publishes two essays per month on the meaning and significance of being human as part of its feature, the Forum, which recently began a collaboration with the New York Times philosophy blog, The Stone.

Comstock, who completed a fellowship with the National Humanities Center last year, conducts research on ethical questions in the biological sciences. He teaches an course titled On the Human, along with classes in biomedical and research ethics.

Comstock has served as director of NC State’s research and professional ethics program. He is the author of Vexing Nature? On the Ethical Case Against Agricultural Biotechnology and editor of Is There a Moral Obligation to Save the Family Farm? and Life Science Ethics.
