CHASS Faculty Take Leadership Roles

Two faculty are taking leadership roles in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Dr. Maria Pramaggiore will become director of film studies in January, succeeding Dr. Devin Orgeron, who has directed the program since 2009. Pramaggiore, who led the film studies program from 2003 to 2006, has been integral in building program over the last decade. She has developed both graduate and undergraduate curricula in the English department, written two books on Irish film and co-authored a film studies textbook. Her research spans feminist, avant garde and queer cinemas.

Dr. James Kiwanuka-Tondo has been named director of international studies. He replaces Helga Braunbeck, who now directs interdisciplinary studies for the college. Kiwanuka-Tondo has taught intercultural communication courses and served on the international studies advisory board. His research interests include health communication campaigns, particularly those focused on AIDS education. He will lead a study abroad trip to Gaborone, Botswana, next summer.
