Annual Enrollment Delayed

State Health Plan (SHP) officials have decided to delay annual enrollment while Gov. Perdue and the General Assembly work to find common ground on proposed legislation that could make significant changes to the health plan that covers more than 664,000 state employees, teachers and retirees.

The university’s Benefits Office, which has been closely monitoring the issue, advises employees to watch their campus e-mail for instructions on how and when to enroll for the coming year. Annual enrollment had been scheduled to begin May 9. It cannot be delayed beyond July 1, according to the Benefits Office.

“Things will happen very quickly once the legislation is finalized or the SHP imposes an annual enrollment,” says an update on the Benefits Office website.

The health plan may send information directly to employees at their home addresses.
