Phased Retirement Seminar Oct. 5

Learn more about NC State’s phased retirement program at a seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Faculty Senate Chambers at D.H. Hill Library.

Phased retirement allows faculty who are eligible to retire to work-half time for three years. Those who are eligible for the program should have received a memo from Provost Warwick Arden, dated Aug. 31, that includes details about phased retirement.

Full-time, tenured faculty members with at least five years of NC State service who participate in the Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) or Optional Retirement Program (ORP) are eligible to apply if they:

  • Will be at least 62 (TSERS) or 59 1/2 (ORP) when beginning phased retirement.
  • Are eligible to receive retirement benefits under either plan.

The application period opens Friday, Sept. 15, and runs through Feb. 15, 2012.
