Engineering Programs Accredited

A national review board has granted full accreditation to 17 degree programs in the College of Engineering.

The accreditation came after a team of 26 program evaluators, observers, and team chairs representing the accrediting agency, ABET Inc., and various engineering professional societies visited NC State last fall. The group reviewed facilities and curricula and met with faculty and students.

ABET, formerly known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, first accredited engineering degrees at NC State in 1936. The university’s civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering programs were among the first engineering programs in the U.S. to win accreditation from the agency.
