Education Professor’s Book Recognized

Dr. Brad Mehlenbacher, associate professor of distance learning, won the Best Book in Technical and Scientific Communication award at the 2012 Conference on College Composition and Communication.

Mehlenbacher was honored for Instruction and Technology: Designs for Everyday Learning (MIT Press, 2010), which analyzes the dynamic relationship between technology and learning.

A faculty member in the College of Education since 2002, Mehlenbacher began his NC State career as a a technical communication faculty member in English. He is involved in interdisciplinary work across campus, including Human Factors and Ergonomics (Psychology), Communication, Rhetoric and Digital Media (English and Communication) and the Digital Games Research Center (Computer Science).

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Waterloo and a doctorate in rhetoric and document design from Carnegie Mellon University.
