Thakur Receives Sigma Xi Award

Dr. Sid Thakur, assistant professor of swine health and reproduction, is a recipient of a 2012 Faculty Research Award presented by the NC State Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society.

The awards program noted that Thakur has secured more than $1.1 million in research support and has published in 28 journals since coming to the College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.

Thakur, who directs the Thakur Molecular Epidemiology Lab, also is the 2012 recipient of the Larry Beuchat Young Researcher Award from the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP). He will receive the award in July, during the organization’s annual meeting in Providence, Rhode Island.

Thakur received his doctorate in population medicine from NC State in 2005.
