Blankenship Named Interim CALS Dean

Dr. Sylvia Blankenship will serve as interim dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences effective July 1. Three finalists are vying to replace Dean Johnny Wynne, who is retiring after 44 years at NC State.

Blankenship joined the faculty in 1983 in the Department of Horticultural Science and has served as assistant department head, department head and associate dean for administration in the college. She is a postharvest physiologist with an emphasis in researching ethylene biology in fruits, vegetables and flowers. She is a Fellow of the International Society of Horticultural Science.
