21st Annual NC State Dog Olympics Set for Sept. 8

What:
North Carolina State University’s Dog Olympics is an annual charitable event organized by veterinary students. Dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes are invited to participate in athletic and non-athletic competitions including musical sit, frisbee toss, high jump, longest tail, look-a-like, best beggar, best trick, and other contests.

A Paralympic competition for dogs with spinal cord injuries will include obstacle course navigation, best decorated cart and cart races.

Additional attractions include a free microchip clinic, cooling stations for dogs, vendor tents and “human” games for families. Dog attendees should be kept on a leash at all times and must be at least four months old and current on vaccinations in order to participate.

Sponsored by the CVM Companion Animal Wellness Club.

When:
Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will be held Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m.

Where:
NC State College of Veterinary Medicine, located at Hillsborough Street and Blue Ridge Rd.

Cost:
Admission is $1 for spectators and owners, $1 for dogs, and free for children five and younger. The entry fee to compete is $7 for the first event and $2 for each successive event. Proceeds will benefit local rescue groups.
