New Rankings Are In

A newly released ranking places NC State 29th in the world in engineering/technology and computer sciences.

The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), issued by researchers at the Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China, ranks universities across the globe.

The rankings differ greatly from those relying on subjective measures. For instance, the engineering/technology and computer sciences rankings are based on field-specific criteria – the number and quality of published papers, the number of highly cited researchers, and the amount of engineering-related research expenditures.

NC State is up from previous years. The university was placed 30th in 2011 and 32nd in 2010 in engineering/technology and computer sciences rankings issued by ARWU.
