Here Come the Gates

If you regularly drive across campus between Western Boulevard and Hillsborough Street, it’s time you took note of the new gates that are being installed on Dan Allen Drive just south of the parking deck. We’ve been talking about the gates since last summer, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise. On Monday, Jan. 14, the gates become operational, restricting most north-south traffic on Dan Allen Drive on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Only emergency vehicles, Wolfline buses and university service vehicles will be able to pass through the gates.

The gates will improve pedestrian safety, reduce traffic congestion and help keep Wolfline buses on schedule. Dan Allen Drive is a primary bus corridor for seven bus routes.

So if you need to get from one side of campus to the other on Dan Allen, think ahead and plan alternative routes that bypass the gates. Of  course, you can always jump on the Wolfline.
