Scottypalooza!

You might call it the most anticipated musical collaboration of the year. No, we’re not talking about Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck. This is big.

The PR strategists behind this month’s Packapalooza street festival have somehow talked country superstar Scotty McCreery into performing a song with head football coach Dave Doeren and Chancellor Randy Woodson. Can a new flavor of Howling Cow ice cream (perhaps McCreery crunch) be far behind?

The trio is scheduled to make NC State history, if not country music history, on the Belltower Stage sometime between 5 and 6 p.m. As you probably already know, Packapalooza takes over Hillsborough Street on Saturday, Aug. 24, for a day of entertainment, food and fun capping Wolfpack Welcome Week.

McCreery, an NC State sophomore, was named Best New Artist at the 2012 ACM Awards. The Garner native gained international fame in 2011 on the popular TV show, American Idol.
