NC State Rises on Best Value List

NC State moved up two more notches on the Princeton Review/USA Today list of the best values in public higher education, ranking No. 4 nationally on the 2014 list of colleges that emphasize high academic standards, low tuition and ample financial aid.

An education services company, Princeton Review chose its “Best Value Colleges” based on 30 factors using data from the company’s surveys of administrators and students at 650 colleges with strong academic programs. The data was collected during the 2012-13 school year.

NC State jumped ahead of UCLA and the College of William and Mary to capture the fourth-place spot this year. The university ranked sixth last year. It didn’t make the top 10 list in 2012 and ranked No. 9 in 2011.

The Princeton Review’s top 10 values in public higher education are:

1. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
2. New College of Florida (Sarasota)
3. University of Virginia (Charlottesville)
4. North Carolina State University
5. University of Michigan–Ann Arbor
6. University of California–Los Angeles
7. University of Florida–Gainesville
8. College of William and Mary
9. Truman State University–Kirksville, Mo.
10. State University of New York–Binghamton
