Forum Focuses on Smarter Buildings

The University Energy Council will host a forum on sustainable buildings, featuring a keynote address by Chris Pyke, vice president for research at the U.S. Green Building Council.

The forum, titled “Smarter Buildings:  Development, Deployment, and Demonstration at NC State University,” is schedule for 1–5 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 in the Hunt Library. A reception  follows in the new clubhouse at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Centennial Campus.

The event includes two panels of experts who will discuss the values and benefits of developing a demonstration of smarter buildings. Panelists include College of Design Dean Marvin Malecha; Randy Avent, associate vice chancellor for research development; Dennis Kekas, associate vice chancellor for partnerships and economic development; and Terri Helmlinger Ratcliff, executive director of the Industrial Extension Service, as well as business executives from ABB, Honeywell, Schneider Electric and the Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster.

The event is free and open to the public.
