Student body president Rusty Mau has an important message for the NC State community: vote. In his email newsletter, Howl, Mau notes that North Carolina citizens face an important election this fall. He encourages students and others on campus to do their civic duty by registering and voting.

If you need to register or transfer your voter registration to NC, check out Wolfpack Votes. You can also download a printable voter registration form from the North Carolina State Board of Elections (find a link to the form in the section “Where to Register”).

The deadline to register to vote in North Carolina is 25 days before the date of an election. So to vote in the Nov. 4 general election you must register by Friday, Oct. 10. But don’t wait till the last day. The voter registration application must be received by your county board of elections by this date.

The Nov. 4 ballot not only includes U.S. House and Senate races, but also a proposed state constitutional amendment that would allow people accused of most crimes to waive their right to a jury trial.

By the way, you won’t be required to show a photo ID in November. The Voter Information Verification Act won’t go into effect until 2016, assuming it survives court challenges.
