Utley Exhibit Opens Oct. 6

Critically acclaimed artist J. Stacy Utley, who earned his degree in architecture and environmental design at NC State, will open an exhibit of his latest series, “Any City, AMERICA,” on Monday at the African-American Cultural Center Gallery of the Witherspoon Student Center.

The series  a collection of miniature houses that represent urban gentrification through an architect’s eye  will be on display from Monday through Dec. 12.

On Tuesday, from noon until 2 p.m., Utley will participate in a Lunch & Learn at Witherspoon’s Washington Sankofa Room. All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the free event.

Utley, a native of Mildenhall, England, began a career as an architect shortly after his graduation from NC State and later earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from Lesley University in Boston. He now operates a studio in Charlotte.
