FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

As part of the "Year of Energy," North Carolina State University will host Dr. Dale Klein, chair of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). He will present a special seminar titled "Challenges and Opportunities in 'The Nuclear Renaissance' – A View from America's Chief Nuclear Regulator."

The seminar will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium (Room 113-117). The seminar is free and open to NC State students, faculty and staff. Klein will also take questions as part of the program.

The NRC approves construction and operations of all nuclear power plants in the United States. Several new nuclear plants are planned for the Southeast – including North Carolina – in the next decade.

Dale is a former faculty member at the University of Texas. He has also served as an assistant secretary in the Department of Defense.
