North Carolina State University will hold the 6th annual Pack-a-Thon dance marathon to benefit the North Carolina Children's Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 9 starting at noon at Carmichael Gymnasium on campus. The goal is to raise $35,000 for the hospital.

Media coverage of the event is invited and Pack-A-Thon is free and open to the public. Carmichael Gym is located at 2611 Cates Avenue on NC State's main campus.

Pack-a-Thon is a 12-hour dance marathon, in which participants known as "lifesavers" remain on their feet throughout the event. Pack-A-Thon, a student run non-profit organization, has registered more than 120 participants for the event so far. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $50. The participant who raises the most money will win two tickets to sit with NC State Chancellor James Oblinger in his box at the men's basketball game against Clemson University.

Highlights of the event include; a visit from Mr. & Mrs. Wuf and the NC State Cheerleading Squad at noon; a performance by local band Intrelletic at 10 p.m. and a raffle for an American Airlines plane ticket worth up to $750. Other activities during the marathon include a Guitar Hero tournament, a three-on-three basketball tournament and a chance to play with the NC State volleyball team. Food from Qdoba, Jimmy Johns and Ruckus Pizza will be provided for all participants.

Registration is open the day of the marathon to all students and community members with valid identification. To register early, visit www.packathon.org.
