FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

North Carolina State University’s Encore Center for Lifelong Enrichment – which offers a variety of non-credit programs for adults aged 50 and older – has begun registration for its fall 2007 courses and trips, which run from Sept. 10 to Dec. 14.

Thirty-seven short courses covering a wide range of topics in the liberal arts and sciences are scheduled. New offerings include courses on design, the Spanish Civil War, the arts in the Triangle, North Carolina literature, and the films of Ingmar Bergman. Special events include day trips to the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington and a maritime-themed trip to Newport News, Va. Multi-day study trips are planned to Boston and North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Encore’s fall open house on Sept. 10 will feature folklorist, storyteller and musician Sheila Kay Adams. Also, on Oct. 8, N.C. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall will lecture on the North Carolina-Moldova partnership.

Encore’s membership fee is $50 and runs from September 2007 through August 2008. The membership includes NC State benefits such as library privileges and discounts on campus cultural events. Most short courses are $45 each, lectures are free with membership, and trip and event prices vary. Call 919/515-5782 for a free catalog or visit Encore on the Web at www.ncsu.edu/encore.
