FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feed your mind, body and spirit at North Carolina State University’s annual Pan-Afrikan Festival March 25 to April 1.
The festival begins with a worship service and Soul Food Sunday and continues with a variety of cultural and educational events, several of which are free and open to the public: a step show; a comedy show; performances by NC State’s Black Repertory Theater, Black Finesse modeling troupe and Dance Visions; and the Society for Afrikan-American Culture Lecture featuring author E. Lynn Harris.
The theme of this year’s event is “Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom,” a quote by George Washington Carver.
The festival is one of the university’s largest celebrations sponsored by the Black Students Board of NC State’s Union Activities Board. Since its inception in 1972, the Pan-Afrikan Festival has consisted of informative programs and social events.
For more information about the 2007 Pan-Afrikan Festival and a complete schedule of events, visit the festival’s Web site at http://uab.ncsu.edu/pan-afrikan or contact the Black Students Board at 919/515-5918 or uab_bsb@ncsu.edu.
