Gubbins Wins Rossini Award

Dr. Keith E. Gubbins received the 2012 Rossini Lectureship Award from the International Association of Chemical Thermodynamics.

The award, presented every two years, recognizes significant contributions to the field of thermodynamics. Gubbins will deliver a lecture at the 2012 International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry Conference on Chemical Thermodynamics in Buzios, Brazil.

Gubbins, the W.H. Clark Distinguished University Professor in chemical and biomolecular engineering, is internationally known for research on confined materials, molecular simulation, adsorption and surface properties. He has accumulated over 18,000 citations and published more than 450 papers. He leads the Gubbins Research Group at NC State, which seeks to understand the behavior of nano-dimensional fluids and solids.

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers honored Gubbins in 2008, along with colleagues Dr. Carol Hall and Dr. Joseph DeSimone, by selecting them as three of the “100 Engineers of the Modern Era.” A faculty member since 1998, Gubbins earned a B.A. in chemistry and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, both from the University of London.
