NC State Shelton Forum to Focus on Strategic Leadership and Global Change

Retired Gen. Dan McNeill, commander of  the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan in 2007 and 2008, will give a keynote speech at North Carolina State University’s General Hugh Shelton Leadership Forum on Friday, Nov. 5, at the McKimmon Center.

The one-day forum this year centers on “Strategic Leadership: Affecting Global Change,” and will include presentations by Bridget A. van Kralingen, general manager of IBM North America; Charles Hayes, president and CEO of the Research Triangle Regional Partnership; and Dr. Victoria Haynes, president and CEO of RTI International.

During his 40 years of active military service, McNeill served in numerous stateside and overseas assignments, including commander of coalition forces in Afghanistan in 2002 and 2003, and commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command from 2004 to 2007. McNeill graduated from NC State and received a commission as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army in 1968. He received an honorary doctor of humane letters degree from NC State in 2003.

McNeill will speak from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Van Kralingen will give the morning keynote speech from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Hayes and Haynes will conduct a leadership seminar along with the forum’s namesake, Gen. Hugh Shelton, from 8:15 to 9:30 a.m.

The cost of attending the forum is $189 and includes lunch.
