New Life Insurance Options Offered

Check your mailbox at home for information about enhanced life insurance coverage for faculty and staff.

NC State is upgrading its optional life insurance in partnership with MetLife. The company is mailing postcards this month, followed by information packets scheduled to reach employees the second week of February.

If you want to apply for optional life insurance or increase your coverage, you can do so during the enrollment period from Feb. 12 to March 2. If you’re already enrolled, you can keep your current coverage under the new structure.

Here are some of the new features:

• Coverage in $10,000 increments up to $1 million instead of being based on multiples of salary, allowing you to select an amount to fit your needs
• Provisions to continue your coverage upon retirement at the current level or $150,000, whichever is less
• An increase in the dependent child age limit from 19 to 25 years for full-time students (previously age 23)
• Will preparation services for you and your spouse/domestic partner at no additional cost
