DELTA Offers Short Summer Courses

DELTA will be providing various training opportunities during the week of May 14-18, from 8:45 a.m. to noon each day in the D.H. Hill Library. Summer Shorts in Instructional Technologies workshop and seminar topics will include: Transitioning from Elluminate to Blackboard Collaborate, Moodle Assessments, Google Apps, Mobile Initiatives, an Update of NC State Enterprise Learning Technologies, the Quality Matters Rubric, Communication and Interaction in Moodle, a tour of Video Conferencing Services, Moodle best practices and more.

Get prepared for the upcoming transition from Elluminate to Blackboard Collaborate by attending the following:

  • Blackboard Collaborate I: The Essentials
  • Blackboard Collaborate II: Tools for Building Interactivity
  • Transitioning to Blackboard Collaborate

Other offerings will cover topics including:

  • Innovative DELTA-developed tools for online teaching
  • “Flipping” your classroom
  • IT accessibility and recent legal cases
  • FERPA
  • Updates on NC State learning technologies
  • Moodle tools and best practices

Attend a luncheon with guest speakers Melissa Hart (Poole College of Management) and Diane Chapman (College of Education) from noon until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, in the Faculty Senate room. They will share their experiences—the good and the not-so-good—with integrating technology into their courses.

This is not a certificate program and there is no required application process to participate. At Summer Shorts, participants can attend as many or as few workshops and seminars that they find spark their interest or meet their needs. Attendees will find many opportunities in which to start, update or advance their knowledge of learning technologies and pedagogical strategies.

Registration is now open and will continue throughout the Summer Shorts week, on a first come, first served basis. So register early. DELTA workshops and seminars are available to all NC State faculty, staff and graduate students free of charge. For a complete schedule visit the website.  If you have any questions about Summer Shorts or need help registering, contact Allie Giro at allie_giro@ncsu.edu or by phone at 513-1238.
