Food Is Focus of Read Smart

Looking for an opportunity to discuss the latest popular books with some of the smartest people around (your friends and NC State’s most engaged scholars)? NCSU Libraries and Wake Count Public Libraries teamed up to make that easy with Read Smart, a series of informal discussions moderated by members of NC State’s faculty.

The next event features a discussion of Pulitzer Prize–winning investigative reporter Michael Moss’s book, “Salt Sugar Fat,” the explosive story of the rise of the processed food industry and its link to the emerging obesity epidemic. This free event is moderated by professors Allen Foegeding and Keith Harris with NC State’s Department of Food, Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences.

The talk, sponsored by Friends of the Library at NC State, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Cameron Village Regional Library, 1930 Clark Avenue in Raleigh. For more information, call 513-3481.
