Attend Military Appreciation Day

NC State’s football game at 6 p.m. Saturday against Richmond will serve as the school’s annual “Military Appreciation Day” at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Fans are encouraged to bring select items for the Backhome Box Foundation that will be sent to troops overseas. Collection bins will be available at each entry gate and cash donations will be taken inside the stadium.

Many of the desired items are included on the “Soldiers Wish List.”

NC State athletics and Coca-Cola also are hosting a pregame tailgate party for more than 400 military personnel, including those aided by the Wounded Warriors Foundation. Wolfpack Club members will also be hosting troops at pregame tailgates through the “Adopt-A-Serviceperson” program. These troops will also attend the game with complimentary tickets from athletics.

At 5 p.m., fans are encouraged to head to the north entrance of Carter-Finley Stadium for the Wounded Warriors Walk of Champions. The Wounded Warriors will be escorted by the Patriot Guard motorcycles, as well as the NC State band, cheerleaders and dance team, and will be honored on the field during the game.

At halftime, the marching band will have a special military tribute, a full-field sized flag will cover the playing surface and a parachute team will jump into the stadium.
