Help NC State Save Energy Over Holidays

NC State will be closed for winter break from Dec. 24, 2014, through Jan. 4, 2015. During that time, the university will reduce the temperature set points in most buildings on campus to save money on energy costs. The university’s Winter Holiday Energy Saving Initiative saved $288,590 during the 2013 winter break.

Faculty and staff can help the university save even more money this year by following these steps before leaving for the holidays:

  • Turn off lights and office/lab equipment.
  • Unplug nonessential electronics.
  • Shut exterior windows and doors.
  • Close lab fume hoods.

Research labs, animal facilities and certain designated support spaces are excluded from the temperature set-point reduction. If you have questions about the Winter Holiday Energy Saving Initiative, send them to save_energy@ncsu.edu.
