Nominations Sought for Friday Award

NC State’s Association of Retired Faculty is looking for nominations for the 2016 William C. Friday Award for Distinguished Service in Retirement. Nominations will be accepted through March 7.

The annual award emphasizes service done by former faculty that goes beyond the continuation of their prior professional career.

The Friday Award, named in honor of UNC System President Emeritus and NC State alum William C. Friday, is given annually to an individual chosen by the  ARF Board. It was awarded the first time in May 2010 to President Friday himself. The award recognizes exemplary accomplishments and contributions made during retirement.

The nominee may come from either retired members of the NC State University community or other retirees with distinguished service who may not have been affiliated with the university. The award may be made posthumously and more than one may be made in a given year.

The honoree(s) will be recognized at the end-of-year ARF luncheon held on May 18 at the NC State University Club. Information about prior honorees and a nomination for is available here.

Nominations may be sent by email at arfofncsu@gmail.com or by ground mail to the Association of Retired Faculty, NCSU Box 7923, Raleigh, N.C., 27695-7923.
