Watch for Raise in End-of-August Paycheck

All eligible campus SHRA and EHRA staff and faculty can look for their newly approved raises in their August paychecks.

Because of the timing of the final statewide budget, the 1.5 percent legislative increase will be retroactive to July 1 and paid in the end-of-August paycheck. So that August paycheck will include two months of the raise, which was part of the 2016-17 state budget signed by Gov. Pat McCrory on July 14.

The increase will be based on an employee’s June 30 base salary and will include benefits-eligible employees with probationary, permanent or time-limited status working 20 or more hours per week. The increase is not set by performance ratings or existing disciplinary actions. The legislative increase does not apply to employees separated from state service prior to July 1, 2016, or to employees hired on July 1, 2016, or later.

In addition, all eligible SHRA and EHRA staff and faculty employed as of Sept. 1 of this year will receive a 0.5 percent bonus payment in their end-of-October paycheck. This payment will not be subject to the mandatory six percent retirement contribution. NC State is awaiting further guidance from the state and UNC General Administration on this bonus payment.

  1. The little 0.5 percent bonus they could have kept! It was a joke! What happened to the 1.6 percent we were supposed to get?

  2. When are retired state employees suppose to get the 1.6% one time bonus? It is still not in my monthly deposit in September.

  3. Why was my response censored? I stated that my increase would help defray the cost of the increase in my property taxes. Not grateful enough?

    1. Isn’t that the same as the bonus payment mentioned in this paragraph? “In addition, all eligible SHRA and EHRA staff and faculty employed as of Sept. 1 of this year will receive a 0.5 percent bonus payment in their end-of-October paycheck. This payment will not be subject to the mandatory six percent retirement contribution. NC State is awaiting further guidance from the state and UNC General Administration on this bonus payment”.
