Boyette Named NCNG Brigadier General

NC State director of building and maintenance and operations Allen Boyette, a commissioned officer in the United States Army and the North Carolina National Guard since his graduation from NC State in 1987, has been promoted to the rank of brigadier general of the NCNG at a ceremony at the Joint Force Headquarters in Raleigh on Tuesday.

Boyette is an NC State graduate in mechanical engineering who earned a commission as a distinguished military graduate through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. He served on active duty as a platoon leader, company executive officer and battalion staff officer.

After six years on active duty, Boyette joined the N.C. Army National Guard in 1994 and has served in positions of increasing levels of responsibility and commanding at all levels through brigade.

He served a one-year tour of duty in Iraq with the NCNG, where he earned the Bronze Star. He has also earned the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Assault badge, the parachutist badge and the ranger tab.

Named the 2014 Zebulon Citizen of the Year, Boyette lives in that Wake County town with his wife, Wanda, and three sons.
