To educate North Carolinians about affordable options for higher education, the UNC System launched the We Promise campaign. It spotlights the NC Promise Tuition Plan, which was recently passed by the North Carolina General Assembly, and the Fixed Tuition Program introduced in 2016.
The new NC Promise Tuition Plan sets undergraduate in-state tuition at just $500 per semester and out-of-state tuition at just $2,500 per semester at three UNC System universities: Elizabeth City State University, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and Western Carolina University.
The Fixed Tuition Program ensures tuition costs will stay the same for North Carolina residents through four years of continuous enrollment at select UNC System universities, including NC State.
There is no limit to how many North Carolinians can take advantage of either plan.
