The Hill Library Reopens August 1
After being closed for electrical infrastructure repairs this summer, the facility is set to reopen to the campus community.
The Hill Library will reopen to the NC State community on Friday, August 1, at 7 a.m. Electrical infrastructure repairs have been completed throughout the library building, and it is ready for the fall semester.
You will notice some other changes around Hill as well:
- In the Atrium food court, Mediterranean Deli and Catering has replaced Delirious and Union 51.
- Five ginkgo trees on the south side of the East Wing have been removed. The ginkgo fruit (seed pods) dropped by the trees was causing interior damage, slipping hazards, and ongoing maintenance issues. It looks a bit bare, but campus Landscape Maintenance and Operations is working on “replacement options with consideration to the species, season, and the best outcome for the health of new trees.”
- In the Faculty Senate Chambers, new flooring has been installed in the kitchen area, and the entire suite has been repainted.
- In the Ground Floor Reading Room, a portion of the east wall has been modified for the installation of two large paintings. It is hoped that the artwork will be installed before August 1.
All essential Libraries services will continue to be offered up to the August 1 reopening. Requests for books and other materials that are located at Hill may be placed on the Libraries website and will be filled either through interlibrary loan or through occasional trips into the building by special arrangement with the project team. The Hunt Library’s in-person Ask Us service hours will be extended on certain dates during summer 2025 while the Hill Library is closed.
Questions may be directed to the Libraries’ Ask Us service. A guide to Libraries service options during this outage at Hill is available on our FAQ page.
