Wildlife refuges boost value of nearby homes, study says, Washington Business Journal, June 1, 2012. According to the study, conducted by economic researchers at North Carolina State University, homes within half a mile of a refuge and within eight miles of an urban center receive a 4 percent to 5 percent boost in value in the Northeast and 7 percent to 9 percent increase in the Southeast.
