Hi. I'm Rajiv Soni. I graduated in December of 2016. I was an intern with the GLBT Center under Andy DeRoin, and it was an amazing experience. It's more than just a place to go to show up and do some work. It's more than just an advocacy organization. I think it was some place that really shaped me. It really made me understand the importance of having support from those around you and from those in different places and administration around campus and from people who are very different from myself. I think when I first came in here, I didn't understand what it was like to go after graduation. And I think the biggest thing that the GLBT Center did for me was boost my confidence, but really prepared me to take on the world afterwards. With their help, I've been able to get into graduate school. I still come back regularly for more talks, more presentations. There's always a lot more to learn. And there's a lot of warmth and support that I feel here. There's a couple questions, and actually one of the things I really liked, a big project I worked on when I was here was I went through and I tried to do some of the archives myself. And so I know the importance of shaping a narrative, and I really did enjoy just getting to sit down and talk with people. The ability to just connect through time and through space is something that I liked a whole lot, and I think that's part of the reason I'm here today. A specific memory about the center. I think the thing I just-- is really funny is for my birthday, and I wasn't expecting it. They decorated the whole office, and they got me a huge cake, and I was so happy. Everyone's birthday, they made a big deal, and it's really a community there. It really made me feel like family, and it was just what I needed. Thank you.
