Thank the Troops: Veterans Day Events
NC State will commemorate Veterans Day with several campus events. Here’s how you can get involved.
Attend the opening reception at 5 p.m. today (Nov. 10) for Fallen Soldiers, an exhibit by Vita Plume, associate professor of art and design. You can visit the free exhibit in the gallery of Brooks Hall (outside the Design Library) through Nov. 19.
Celebrate Veterans Day with a run and ceremony on Friday at the Belltower. ROTC will lead a two-mile run at 6 a.m., which will be followed by a short ceremony at 6:30 a.m. with comments from Rear Adm. (ret.) Benny Suggs, executive director of the NC State Alumni Association. Chancellor Randy Woodson will take part in an presentation recognizing NC State’s commitment to supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. Veterans will be given a small token of appreciation at the event. Questions? Contact Lisa P. Zapata at 513-3403.
The Center for Student Leadership, Ethics, & Public Service (CSLEPS) is providing an opportunity to say thank you to the troops. Join the students Friday from 1 to 3 p.m in the Talley Student Center Brown Room. Participants will be making “Not Forgotten Bracelets” and appreciation cards to be assembled in care packages and sent to troops overseas. At the event, Patrick Yanke, President of AFA Tarheel Chapter, will speak about what leadership means to him, his military experiences and how he implements leadership skills from his military experiences into everyday life.
