Enjoy Arbor Day March 16

Plant yourself at the farmer’s market March 16 and enjoy North Carolina’s Arbor Day Celebration. Exhibitors from a wide variety of forest-related organizations will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Farmers Building to share information and materials about how trees improve our quality of life.

The event also includes demonstrations and hands-on activities for youth. Plus, the Triangle Chapter of the Society of American Foresters will give away 1,000 seedlings. The North Carolina Arbor Day photo contest winner will be announced at 1:30 p.m.

NC State’s Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources hosts the event.

Arbor Day is celebrated in state observances across the country to show just how much trees are appreciated. Arbor Day was first officially observed in North Carolina in 1967.
