NRC Chairman Klein to Visit NC State
As part of the “Year of Energy,” North Carolina State University
will host Dr. Dale Klein, chair of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory
Commission (NRC). He will present a special seminar titled “Challenges
and Opportunities in ‘The Nuclear Renaissance’ – A View from America’s
Chief Nuclear Regulator.”
The seminar will be held Thursday, Jan.
31, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium (Room 113-117).
The seminar is free and open to NC State students, faculty and staff.
Klein will also take questions as part of the program.
The NRC
approves construction and operations of all nuclear power plants in the
United States. Several new nuclear plants are planned for the Southeast
– including North Carolina – in the next decade.
Dale is a former
faculty member at the University of Texas. He has also served as an
assistant secretary in the Department of Defense.
