NC State Hosts Summit Aimed at Getting People Moving
North Carolina State University will host the “Active Recreation Counts” summit to discuss the effectiveness of community recreation programs and their ability to make people more physically active on Thursday, April 3 at 10 a.m. at the Jane S. McKimmon Center on NC State’s campus. Media coverage of the summit is invited.
The summit will examine how parks and recreation departments, schools, non-profits, faith-based organizations and public health services determine their programs are making a difference in the health of citizens in their communities. Dr. James Sallis, director of the active living research program at San Diego State University, will deliver the keynote address. Sallis is a nationally and internationally recognized authority on physical activity interventions and behavioral research.
