Simmons Leads Science Teacher Association
The National Science Teacher Association elected Dr. Patricia Simmons as its 2011–12 president.
Simmons, a professor and head of the mathematics, science and technology education department, will serve for three years, including stints as president-elect and retiring president.
Her goals include improving professional development opportunities for members, collaborating with other science education organizations and advocating for the importance of science and the profession of science teaching.
Simmons has experience as a high school science teacher, teacher educator and education researcher. She has served on NSTA advisory boards and presented at many conferences.
