Minimal Storm Damage on Campus
NC State suffered little damage in a weekend storm that battered the state, generating tornadoes that roared into Raleigh Saturday afternoon with wind speeds exceeding 100 mph.
“We really dodged a bullet here,” said Jack Colby, assistant vice chancellor for facilities operations. “We had lots of debris and tree limbs down, but no significant damage.”
University crews worked over the weekend to repair leaky roofs and resulting water damage, he said. The storm knocked out power to Centennial Campus on Saturday, but Progress Energy had the power restored by Sunday afternoon.
