Spring Cleaning on Campus

In the mood to clear out the clutter this spring? Take advantage of upcoming recycling events on campus.

You can have confidential papers shredded, keep electronics out of landfills, pass along extra books and safely dispose of outdated medicines.

Here’s the rundown of recycling events.

Free Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling
Wednesday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Centennial Campus Utility Plant, Partners Way and Main Campus Drive

Recycle confidential materials safely and securely. Up to 8 boxes of paper will be shredded at no charge, as long as they weigh less than 50 pounds each.

You can also safely dispose of small electronics gathering dust at home, including cell phones, small kitchen appliances, computers and monitors. There is a $5 charge for recycling television sets. (Remember, all university property must go to Surplus Materials Management for re-use or recycling.)

Book Drive

Don’t leave those literary classics in the corner. Pass along your books with the help of NC State’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, in partnership with Better World Books.

Bring any and all hardback and paperback books in decent shape to one of the campus collection books. Textbooks, workbooks, fiction, nonfiction and children’s books are accepted.

Medication Disposal
April 30, 10 a.m  to 2 p.m.
Behind Student Health Services building, 2815 Cates Ave.

Safely dispose of expired and unused medications by bringing them to the collection site. You’ll help prevent accidental poisoning and protect the water supply as part of the National Take Back Initiative, sponsored by Student Health Services and Campus Police.

Labels should be left on bottles for drug identification purposes but they will be removed at the site to protect your privacy.
