Malecha Receives Architecture Medal

College of Design Dean Marvin J. Malecha, FAIA, won a distinguished career medal from the North Carolina chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

He accepted the 2011 F. Carter Williams Gold Medal during the annual AIA North Carolina conference in Raleigh last month. The medal, named for a Raleigh architect, recognizes a member’s distinguished career or extraordinary accomplishments.

Malecha was honored for his contributions in 17 years as an architect and educator in the state of North Carolina and career accomplishments spanning five decades. He served as president of the American Institute of Architects in 2009.
