Thrall Honored for Radiology Research
Dr. Don Thrall, professor in the molecular biomedical science department, received a lifetime achievement award from the American College of Veterinary Radiology.
Thrall gave the keynote address at the organization’s 2011 conference in Albuquerque, N.M., where he accepted the Bernstein Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award, the organization’s highest honor, is given periodically to members who have made an outstanding contribution through service, teaching or research. Thrall is the third recipient.
Thrall is credited with helping to establish the specialty of radiation oncology. His research focuses on the use of spontaneous tumors in dogs and cats as a model to study tumor physiology and treatment. Information derived from study of large animals is relevant to both animal and human cancer patients.
