Faculty Scholars Program Announced

A new University Faculty Scholars Program announced Wednesday will provide five years of annual support for up to 20 faculty members identified as emerging leaders.

Each University Faculty Scholar will receive $10,000 annually for supplemental salary or programmatic support under the new program, which is scheduled to begin in the 2012–13 academic year, Chancellor Randy Woodson told those at the Administrative Leadership Meeting on March 13.

Recipients will be selected through a college nomination process with input from senior faculty. Nominees must be assistant professors who have been reappointed for a second term, associate professors or full professors within the first three years of appointment at that rank.

April 1 is the deadline for colleges to send descriptions of their nominating processes and the names of advisory committee members to Betsy Brown, vice provost for faculty affairs.
