Calling for Nominees for Watauga Medal

Nominations are now being accepted for the prestigious Watauga Medal, established by the NC State Board of Trustees in 1975 as the highest nonacademic honor awarded by the university.

The selection committee seeks nominees who’ve made extraordinary efforts to advance the teaching, research or extension functions of the university. There are a few restrictions. Watauga Medal nominees currently cannot be on the NC State Board of Trustees, the UNC Board of Governors, or be employed by the university or UNC-General Administration.

Up to three awards are given annually and the medals will be presented at the NC State Founders Day Dinner on March 4, 2013. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 7 to: Nevin Kessler, Chair, Watauga Medal Selection Committee, NC State University, Campus Box 7004, Raleigh, NC 27695-7004.
